Hinatuan Enchanted River

Image
In the jungles of Mindanao in the southern part of the Philippines, there is a river full of legend and shrouded in mystery.  It is known to locals and tourists as the Hinatuan Enchanted River, but to many others it is also called the Hinatuan Sacred River. Walking in the forest and out into the banks of this river and you would understand why. The sparkling blue water is crystal-clear down to its depths. The river empties into the Pacific Ocean, and even though it runs but for a small stretch, every bit of its length is one amazing overload of beauty that inspires awe and evokes a feeling that this river is indeed steeped in the spiritual. There are a series of underwater caves hidden in the depths of the river. This plus the close location to the ocean made the the river’s water salty and incredibly transparent. Local legends surround the enchanted river. One legend tells of fairies adding jewel-like hues to the river, while another legend says the mysterious depths is home to a myth
